Built like a tank

Expensive, but you can get 10k miles out of it easy.

It has the heftiest metal casing I've ever seen, the spring inside for the bypass valve is thick, the rubber gasket is thick, it's oversized compared to most oil filters, and it has micro-glass synthetic filtration that's backed with wire mesh so it will hold up for a long time. Basically it's a perfect filter for extended drains.

It doesn't filter as efficiently down to the smaller microns (20 or less) compared to the Purolator PureOne oil filter (which uses a micro-glass synthetic/paper combo); but the Royal Purple filter is built better, it will last longer, and it will also flow better then the PureOne.

The perfect filter for RP oil.

If you're going to spend the money to use RP oil then you may as well use a quality RP oil filter as well.

You can use this filter with any brand of oil if you're just looking for a very good performance oil filter.

Best filter on the market

With out question the best filter you can get. Any one with a modular 5.4L V8 should be running this filer. Doesn't matter what oil you run, you will get lots of miles out of this filter. I use Royal Purple HPS 5W-20 in my 2001 F150. I check the oil often and I get about 10k miles before doing an oil change. I use to run another brand of oil and still get 8-9k miles out of it. I know it cost more "right now" but in the end its cheaper. I do 1 oil change a year. Cost me around $60 compared to doing it every 4-5k miles and costing me $40. You do the math.

One of the best Products ever made!

Background: I'm a veteran ASE Master Certified Technician w/ L1 and X1 Certifications. I am also Lexus Senior Certified / Toyota Expert Certified / Nissan Certified / AC Delco Certified.

I have owned all the models of Power Probe's: 1 through 3. These devices are great workhorses and hold up forever. All of mine are still in service and I use them in multiple locations. Whether your a DIY'er or an experienced technician these things will save you a lot of time and trouble, not to mention money if you are paid on a flat-rate scale. Yes I have all the fancy DVOM's and test leads but this guy gets used a lot more. If your looking for a product that will pay for itself the first time out: buy it!

Electrical probe

I found this tool indispensable in trouble shooting ignition and wiring problems I was having with my 63 Austin Healey 3000. Having both a probe, meter and power supply combined in one tool is genius and the plus plus is that the build quality is excellent. You get what you pay for and I greatly recommend this excellent device.

Bench Test Before Installation!

The schematic is slightly wrong. I suggest that you bench test this winch, before you install it. To reverse the direction of a DC motor, the "normal" method is to reverse the armature connection. This winch controller reverses the series field. The ground connection for the armature is located on the bottom of the unit. It is imperative that you connect this terminal to a solid ground. If the ground connection comes loose, electrical current will flow through the bearings in the motor and also the gear box bearings. That problem will cause rapid bearing failure. To prevent this problem, I installed an Optima battery. The top terminals, are connected to the Electrical system of my 1988 Ford 4X4. The side terminals on the Optima battery are directly connected to the winch. This I have found to be the most efficient way to ensure that a "solid" ground has been established. The control unit, connector is a little bit cheap. I suggest that you install a heavy duty connector with a waterproof cover. For the price, the winch is worth it. Since my application may be different from yours, I suggest that you "think it out" before you begin the installation. Passing thought. To prevent your winch from "vanishing" from your vehicle, tack weld all of the mounting bolts. That way, if it is stolen, they had to "work at it". Yes, If I had the need, I would buy another Rugged Ridge winch!

good quality, good install options, good price

I installed this yesterday on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler, so I can't yet speak to the pulling power. But, the build quality is excellent, and I really like the fact that you can install the solenoid box over the motor (off to the side), or directly over the cable drum in the center. The handheld remote cable locks into the solenoid box, which I like (though this isn't explained in the instructions). Excellent price through Amazon.
The only mistake I made: I thought I'd do all the wiring connections after I had the winch installed on my vehicle, but there's a bolt for the ground wires on the bottom of the motor that's impossible to access once you have the winch bolted in place. I had to remove the winch, and the mounting plate, to complete the wiring. So, hook up the electric cables to the winch motor and solenoid *before* you bolt the winch in place.

Yes, it works!

This is an honest used the winch for its intended purpose review.

A buddy and I recently got into wheeling and knew that a winch was a good piece of equipment to have and for the price we decided why not and slapped it on his old CJ.

First time wheeling in cold misty conditions we have some dirt bikers tell us a guy is stuck and needs to be pulled out. We show up and the stuck rig is on a Jeep Waggoner frame with a full cage and 44s in about two feet of mud.

We made 3 pulls with this winch with each pull lasting several minutes. First pull was to pull him backwards to get a good angle to pull him out. Winch pulled him slowly but surely backwards and broke him free of all the tension of the mud.

Second pull was to actually pull him out. It was slow going until we found out he didn't have the rig in neutral (so it pulled him backwards stuck in the mud in park with no issues). Once in neutral we had no issues pulling him up about a 2' embankment. There we attempted to charge his dead battery so we made a 3rd pull through some brush so we could attach a tow strap and tow him back to his trailer.

So to recap 3 pulls, several minutes long with about 10m downtime between pulls on a large heavy wheeling rig stuck in mud up an embankment.

The only thing we noticed was one of the plastic terminal caps melted from the heat.

So yes, this winch works. And that rig we pulled out especially with the tension of the mud was probably very close to the 8,500 lb rating.

Baja Tested

I am 6'2" and about 250lbs. I have never been able to find a very comfortable camping chair and wanted something stable and strong to take down to Baja for the 1000. This thing is very stable and sturdy. The chair doesn't sag and gives me great support which is great for my sore back. My favorite thing are the arms. I like my elbows to be higher up when I sit and you don't find that much with camping chairs. Everyone on the trip took my ARB for a ride and everyone loved it. I am pretty sure I sold about 5 of them on this trip. I highly recommend this chair. My only complaint is with the bag. The nylon is really thin and while being strapped to the trailer it tore on the first day of off roading.

Nice Camp Chair

I am loving this chair, it is not a cheap 20 buck chair that you can find all day long. Like most ARB products I own it is well thought out and very sturdy! The only complaint I have and it is a small one is the size when collapsed...its a bit bigger than other chairs of this type...but I will take that trade off for a chair that will be around for a long time, and not fall apart after a season or 2 of use.

Great value, big squirt!

This is a lot better value than the size that comes with the regular re-charge kit. The spray bottle offers much better coverage with less waste, and less effort from the regular size finger pump. And I have always found that the cleaner runs out way before the oil of the same size. Also I clean these filters more often, and it really helps with overall milage. Letting a filter go 50k (K&N statement) before you clean it is just CRAZY! Clean it every 10-15k and you will find your car runs better, and you have less gunk on you throttle body that causes poor mileage.

Cost savings in the big bottle...

I started out with the "kit" (cleaner & oil) for my K&N. It just seems that the oil lasted longer than the cleaner, especially if your filters get really dirty and you have to clean a second time. The 32 oz. may cost as much as the kit, but it also has 4x the amount of cleaner in the spay bottle. The larger spray bottle has a larger dispersal sprayer than the one in the kit, so it takes less time to spray down your filter.

A mist have cleaner for kn filters.

Does a great job cleaning grime that collects on KN filters for my truck and twin intakes on G37s. Less than 10 minutes of soaking and it removes the old oil and dirt. Rinse with water and blow dry with a hair dryer or even a leaf blower and your ready to reapply new oil that allows the flow through fabric to filter out fast flowing intake.

Hurst produced aftermarket replacement manual transmission shifters and other automobile performance enhancing parts.
Hurst was also an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplier for automakers and provided services or components for numerous muscle car models by American Motors (AMC), Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. Their products were included as standard equipment in AMC's The Machine (also known as the Rebel Machine), AMC AMXs and Javelins, Pontiac GTOs and Oldsmobile 442s, Boss Mustang 302 and the Boss 429, as well as Dodge Chargers, Plymouth Barracudas, and Plymouth Superbirds, among others.
Specialty automobile models produced in cooperation with automakers that incorporated the Hurst logo or name, included:

• 1970 Chrysler Hurst 300
• 1971 Hurst Jeepster
• several Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds

Hurst Performance was also the inventor of the "Jaws of Life" — a hydraulic rescue tool. The company designed a complete Hurst Rescue System in the early 1970s, a specialty Emergency Medical Services (EMS) apparatus.^[1] Based on the AMC Gremlin, it served as a quicker and more compact emergency vehicle, compared to the traditional heavy rescue vehicles used at motorsport race tracks^[2] and as a companion vehicle to any highway emergency system.^[3]

History

The original company was called Hurst-Campbell. It was started in 1958 as an auto repair company when George Hurst was a young man. An older man named Lawrence Greenwald (who is credited, among other things, to be one of the inventors of stretch nylon hosiery), took certain cars from his collection to Hurst's shop for repair. Greenwald saw promise in Hurst and decided to finance him in a venture to manufacture aftermarket large bumpers for VW buses, which were gaining popularity.
When VW started manufacturing its own large bumpers for the buses, Hurst-Campbell branched out into the piston-driven gearshift business. They also manufactured, at different times, engine mounts, wheels, and shift knobs in addition to the line of gearshifts.
In the company's research department, it developed and invented the Jaws of Life. The company gave away the patent without any compensation.
By the late 1960s, Hurst transmission shifters and other products became legendary in auto racing, particularly in drag racing and among custom car makers. For example, many automobile enthusiasts replaced flimsy factory shifters with Hurst shifters to obtain better control of gear selection, particularly for competitive driving.^[4] "If you didn't have a Hurst shifter in your supercar, you were a mild-mannered loser."^[4] The units were so good that U.S. automakers were forced to offer Hurst branded gear sticks on their muscle car models, although at the time they preferred manufacturing their own parts rather than outsourcing.^[4]
George Hurst expanded into other specialty performance products during the 1960s by acquiring Schiefer Manufacturing, a maker of clutches^[5] and Airheart, a maker of brake systems.^[6]
In 1968, Greenwald and Hurst took the company public.^[6] The company was bought out in 1970 by Sunbeam Products, a maker of small appliances.^[6] Hurst was promised an executive position and seat on the board of directors as part of the buyout, but Sunbeam did not follow through.^[6] (A variation of this account has Sunbeam specifically telling Mr. Greenwald and Mr. Hurst that they would no longer be part of the Company.) Greenwald fully retired at age 67.
George Hurst died in 1986.^[7] Lawrence Greenwald died of natural causes in 1986.
In 1987, the Hurst operations were sold by Sunbeam and became part of the Mr. Gasket Company. In 2007, B&M Racing and Performance Products bought the Hurst brand.^[8]

Today

A subsidiary, established in 2008, called Hurst Performance Vehicles, is responsible for creating new renditions of Hurst vehicles that include the Hurst Challenger, Hurst Viper, and the Hurst Camaro.^[9]
