K&N 57i Generation II Induction Kits are built primarily for European vehicles. They come with K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty. These intake kits use only non-metallic rotationally molded tubes that can reduce air temperature and decrease intake sound over a metal tube. Restriction can exist BETWEEN an air filter and the engine reducing the benefit of a K&N Air Filter alone. The weakest link in the airflow "chain" robs a vehicle of its natural horsepower. Often that weak point is the factory air path leading to the engine. K&N Air Intake Kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamically engineered tube drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into POWER.

"K&N 85-2445 Filter Minder Push in The Filter Minderr is an air filter service indicator that monitors air filter restriction and indicates when the air filter should be serviced. As the air filter gets dirty, the yellow position indicator moves in the clear window of the service indicator and locks at the highest point. It can be read even after the engine is turned off. The air filter should not be cleaned until the yellow position indicator reaches the red zone. Reset the position of the indicator to zero by pushing the yellow reset at the end of the service indicator."

Solid product from a solid company.
The filter installed with no problems, and was a solid fit. While I do not feel you receive huge gains from just the air filter, especially considering how well the stock filter flows, I do believe the K&N filter flows better. It is a great reusable, cleanable filter that will pay for itself overtime if you maintain it. As well as having great airflow. Can't beat the price either when considering any of the other after market drop in filters for the 335i. Some more technical reviews posted on e90post.com as well.
